I’m excited to welcome Caitlin to the blog today. I connected with her last year when we were both in the process of releasing our books.

Her brand-new release, called “Where’s My Change” looks amazing – especially for those engaged in the world of business and customer service.

“It’s not fair that I don’t have a mom anymore.”

I've blurted those words out this year, usually after we've driven away from her resting place.

And, I don’t know if grave-markers bring me more peace, or more pain.

It’s been said there is no precise way to grieve, and I’m sure no-one is keeping track but me – so I’ve done things that have given me peace these past 12 months. There were things I needed to do to get through this past year.

And I did.

We all did.

And maybe now I can turn the page into a new chapter. I've been unconsciously waiting to mark this day, and how the year of firsts without her are over.

I need to start moving forward again.

And I will.

There is a time for everything, and a season for ever activity under the heavens. (Ecc. 3:1) I needed a season to mourn, and now I can fully walk into whatever is next.

She would want that for me. For us all.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⭐️Happy Birthday M ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⭐️Happy Birthday Mama⭐️

We miss you so much.
You always celebrated us so well.

Childhood memories of cakes, parties and so much love. After-Christmas December days making sure Dad knew he was special even though his birthday was so close to the holidays. Grandkids feeling so cherished, with you looking on with love and pride, with a big smile, as the candles flickered on their cakes.

💗You showed us all we were worth celebrating.

And, I remember us celebrating you.

All gathering around.

For the good years, and then the ones that got harder. When we’d go to you, hold your hand and sit close. You didn’t always know it was your special day, but we did.

💗You were always worth celebrating.

We’ve never spent birthdays apart.
Until this year.

This year there’s no cake, and the sign I’d pull out has changed in so many ways.

My heart feels cracked up and broken. But still we honour you & your beautiful life, and all that you were to us.

The way you loved us, that will never change. And our love for you will never end.

Happy Birthday Mama.
We miss you today.

💗You’ll always be worth celebrating.

Dan and I worked together in ministry about 15 years ago in Burlington, Ontario and we have kept in touch over the years and encouraged each other on our writing journeys! Dan is an author, life coach, entrepreneur, husband, father, and grandpa. With years of business, pastoral and private practice counselling experience, he brings practical wisdom to everyday challenges we all face.

Dan lives in Coldwater, Ontario, with his lovely wife Kathy and their family owns a chocolate factory which is super cool!
