I’m loved by you. It’s who I am. #goodfather

You’re a good, good Father

It’s who you are; it’s who you are.

And I’m loved by you.

It’s who I am; it’s who I am.

We sang this worship song by Housefires at church this past weekend and those words struck so deep within me. I can’t stop singing them. It feels like a revelation that I didn’t even realize I was looking for. Word of powerful truth. Like a wave hit me and brought refreshing to my thirsty heart.

It’s so simple.

You’re a good, good Father,

It’s who you are.

Scripture declares that so many times. His goodness has been shown over and over.

Your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Psalm 23:6

Taste and see that the Lord is good. Psalm 34:8

Every good and perfect gift is from above. James 1:17

I have loved you with an everlasting love. Jeremiah 31:3

Because he’s a good Father, he loves his children. I am his child.

It’s who I am.

I’m loved by my Father.

That’s my identity.

I sometimes struggle with who I am. I try to figure out myself and I often lose site of who I am supposed to be. Who he wants me to be. Who I can be in him.

But nothing else really should matter.

I’m loved by him.

That completes my identity. That makes everything in my life ok. Because no matter the storms, no matter the questions, the insecurity, the doubt and no matter the pain, I am loved by my Father. I find my peace, my comfort, my assurance, my hope, my joy, my confidence, my rest and my future in his love.

He’s a good, good Father.

Who he is,

Makes me who I am.

Loved by him.

  1. Francesca Batistelli has a great song out that your post made me think of… It is called “He knows my name” … Makes my heart soar when I hear it! All for the “Audience of one!”
